Sakshi Murder Case: 20-Year-Old Man Sahil Khan Brutally Stabs Girlfriend Sakshi 21 Times with a Knife

In a tragic incident in Delhi's Rohini, a young girl, aged 16, was brutally murdered by a 20-year-old man. Disturbing CCTV footage captured the horrifying act, revealing the accused repeatedly stabbing the girl and ruthlessly attacking her with a large rock. The accused has since been arrested in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.

The 16-year-old victim suffered a brutal assault, enduring 21 stab wounds. The intensity of the attack was such that the knife used became lodged in her head momentarily. Shortly after, the accused grabbed a nearby boulder and proceeded to strike her with it. Despite the presence of passersby, no one intervened or attempted to halt the assault, allowing the attacker to strike her with the boulder five times.

The following footage was recorded by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in a lane situated in Delhi's Rohini area, specifically Shahbad Dairy. The perpetrat, who has been identified as Sahil, was arrested in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh shortly after committing the heinous act. Sahil, a 20-year-old individual, works as a mechanic specializing in refrigerator and air conditioner repairs.

According to the post mortem report , the girl's skull was ruptured and she was stabbed 16 times according to ANI. More details are being expected from the post mortem report. 

The mother of the victim said that they didn't know the man. The family tried to get information about the boy Sakshi was dating but she didn't tell them anything about her boyfriend. 

Why had happened on the day of murder? How did it take place? 

Sahil was reportedly upset by the girl's decision to end the relationship. 

A CCTV footage showed Sahil roaming the street, waiting for Sakshi. She returned from the market and went to a public toilet to change her clothers to attend the birthday party of her friend's son. As soon as she came out of the toilet, Sahil stabbed her with a knife 16 times . The CCTV also captured people watching the crime but doing nothing to stop it. One man tried to stop him but he escaped after being threatened by the boy. A dog also went towards Sakshi to help. The accused ensured that she was dead. When police reached the crime scene and took her to the hospital, she was declared dead on arrival. 

After committing such a heinous crime, Sahil fled to Bulandshahr in UP where he was then arrested by the police. 

According to the investigation, it was discovered that the young woman had been involved in a romantic relationship with Sahil starting from 2021. However, their relationship became troubled as they often found themselves in arguments and faced difficulties. Consequently, the girl decided to cease communication with Sahil. Despite her expressed desire to end things, Sahil continued to pursue her and expressed his wish to reconcile, as stated in the report.

According to reports, the police are conducting an investigation into a tattoo discovered on the victim's hand, which includes the name "Praveen." They suspect that this tattoo may have been a source of frequent arguments between Sahil and the girl.

What is the most shocking thing is that nobody tried to stop the man from doing such heinous crime, no one tried to save the girl. The passers-by were watching the whole incident but didn't have the courage to stop him. 

"Delhi is a metropolitan city that has anonymity, but relations matter in society. If we notice such incidents, we must intervene to the best of our ability and dissuade an assailant from committing such crimes. Such interventions would contain a crime and save a life,” said Deependra Pathak , Special commissioner of police. 

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal condemned the crime and tweeted, “A minor girl is brutally murdered openly in Delhi. This is very sad and unfortunate. Criminals have become fearless. There is no fear of the police. L-G sir, law and order is your responsibility. Do something. The safety of the people of Delhi is of paramount importance.”

Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), expressed concern about the escalating insecurity faced by women in the national capital. She has taken action by issuing a formal notice to the police regarding a heinous murder that recently took place

Crimes rising against women in Delhi, look at some of the similar incidents

Not much time before, the murder of Nikki Yadav shook Delhi. Her 24 year old boyfriend Sahil Gehlot strangled her and dumped her body in a refrigerator. The incident took place in Feb 2023.

In Nov 2022, Mehrauli witnessed a similar incident, where Aftab Poonawalla killed her girlfriend Shraddha and chopped her body into 35 pieces. The murder had shooked Delhi. For several weeks people went on discussing the murder. 

There are several other cases where women have been the victim of heinous crimes, most of the crimes committed are by their own relatives , either boyfriend or friend or family member. 

According to data, the number of crimes against women in Delhi rose to 13,892 in 2021, a significant increase compared to the 9,782 cases reported in 2020.

The latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reveals that Delhi experienced a distressing surge of over 40 percent in crimes against women during 2021, in comparison to the previous year. Shockingly, the data indicates that on average, two girls were subjected to rape every day in the national capital, solidifying its position as the most unsafe metropolitan city for women in India.

Delhi has been on top position in the list of crimes against women for three consecutive years .
