As we are insane about food so let’s talk about the Korean delicacies and their specialty. From the history of Korean food, we can see it is mainly served with cooked rice (bap) and dishes containing broth (kuk), and never forget Koreans famous kimchi and banchan.

The famous cooking method is fermentation, pickling, boiling or blanching, and seasoning. The whole cuisine is largely based on rice, seafood, and vegetables. They rarely use dairy in their cuisine. The most used ingredients are sesame oil, soy sauce, fermented bean paste (doenjang), cabbage, fermented chili paste (gochujang), and chili flakes (gochugaru).

  • Kimchi

A major food in Korean cuisine. Eaten as a side dish with every meal and is also used for soups and stews. The main ingredients are different vegetables, napa cabbage, and radish it tastes tangy, spicy, and pungent. 

  • Korean fried chicken

The dish called ‘chikin’ in Korea refers to different varieties of fried chicken eaten there. It is eaten as a meal, appetizer, or served with drinks. There are 8 known styles of Korean fried chicken

  • Huraideu chikin – The basic one
  • Yangnyeom – This fried chicken is coated in sweet and spicy sauces.
  • Banban- This contains half and half quantity of huraideu and yangnyeom.
  • Ganjang chikin – This fried chicken is based on soy sauce and coated in sweet and savory sauces and also has dominating garlic flavor.
  • Padak - This one contains spring onions or scallions in large quantities.
  • Honey chikin – It is a soy sauce-based fried chicken but sweeter and sticky with honey.
  • Tongdak – Traditional whole chicken
  • Sunsal chikin – boneless fried chicken
  • Tteok-bokki

It is a simmered cake which is long cylinder-shaped made up of rice. Which are mainly paired with boiled eggs, fish cakes are known as emouk or scallions. It is mostly prepared two ways for spicy lovers it is seasoned with chili paste known as gochujang and the one who prefers none spicy get soy sauce-based Tteok-bokki.

  • Bingsu

A Korean dessert that contains shaved ice topped with sweet toppings. The mainly used topping in bingsu is chopped fruits, condensed milk, red ben paste, or fruit syrups. Traditional recipe used only red bean paste, tteok, and groundnut powder. Now we can get a variety of bingsu popular flavors are green tea, coffee, and yogurt.

  • Bibimbap

It is a Korean dish of rice. The name of this dish means mixing rice. It is served as a warm rice bowl topped with sautéed and seasoned vegetables known as ‘namul’ or it can be also topped with kimchi. The common addition of this dish is fried or raw egg and sliced meat     (mainly used meat is beef). All these things are stirred properly before eating.
