Breaking Barriers: HJU Program Spotlights Gender Sensitivity Achievements in Jaipur
Kalyan Singh Kothari, the Secretary of Lok Samvad Sansthan, elucidated the collaboration between HJU, UNFPA, and Lok Samvad Sansthan during the four-month project, where 35 students underwent gender sensitivity-related coursework and various activities guided by mentors.
Jaipur: A program on gender sensitivity and sexuality, held on Friday, marked the culmination of a four-month project by Haridev Joshi University (HJU) in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Lok Samvad Sansthan. The event aimed to enhance gender sensitivity understanding among HJU students. Professor Sudhi Rajiv, the Chancellor of HJU, emphasized the significance of such programs in providing aspiring journalism students with a comprehensive understanding of gender sensitivity. HJU intends to continue organizing similar programs with the support of UNFPA.
On a specified date, Dr. Deepesh Gupta, the State Head of UNFPA, emphasized the necessity of incorporating gender-sensitive curricula in the education system to instill fundamental values of gender equality. He highlighted the crucial role of this education in raising awareness against gender bias, emphasizing UNFPA's belief that education serves as a powerful tool for changing social norms within the existing patriarchal society. The organization sees gender-sensitive programs and teaching methods as pivotal in reducing gender bias impact among girls and fostering positive change.

Field visits to Jaipur, Ajmer, and Chaksu Block were organized, providing hands-on experience and imparting the art of article writing to the students.
The program also acknowledged outstanding articles written by HJU students. Pallavi Sharma secured the first position with her article 'Accept Me as I Am, So I Am.' Annu Tanwar claimed the second position with the article '21st Century Responsibility: Sterilizing Women.' Nikhil Raj secured the third position for his article 'Public Knows Everything.' Jury Appreciation Certificates were awarded to Ananya Sharma, Kripa Upadhyay, and Ridhima Nathawat. Mentors, including Govind Chaturvedi, Shalini Agrawal, Professor Kanchan Mathur, Professor Shobhita Rajgopal, Dr. Lad Kumari Jain, and CECOEDECON Director P.M. Paul, were honored with mementos. UNFPA's Youth Gender Specialist Trisha Parikh also graced the occasion. Coordinator Garima Jain expressed gratitude and shared her experiences with everyone.
