Blend Of Art And Science; Maitreyi College Organises Annual Physics Fest
Annual Physics Fest of Maitreyi College

Scintillations, the physics Society of Maitreyi College, Delhi University, organised their annual physics fest, Quest, on February 15, 2022. The virtual fest represented an impeccable synergy between art and science tied together with enthusiasm and excitement.

Quest’22 further spread into various competitions and events where students from various colleges were provided a stage to showcase their talents. The vividity ranged from poetry and photography to scientific knowledge. The participants of various events were given a chance to bag prizes worth Rs 15,000.

The fest kickstarted with a welcome speech by the event coordinator and teacher-in-charge, Dr Ritu Dhingra. The first event was ‘Shutters Up,’ the photography contest that challenged participants in terms of their perception and outlook toward things and places. After a visual treat, the audience and judges witnessed the beauty of literature in ‘Fete and Fiesta,’ the open-mic event. Words, woven through imagination and poetic devices, presented science through the lens of genres such as comedy and romance. One participant took it up a notch and sang a song that came out as a perfect balance of words and rhythm.

Then came ‘Mind Bend,’ the quiz competition, and ‘Now in Orbit,’ the treasure hunt, which made the participants use their sharpest tool, their minds, to unravel and demystify the questions and puzzles thrown at them. The treasure hunt was based on Physics and enthralled the competitors who were busy digging up clues.

There was one event that saw the highest participation and that was ‘Memetron.’ You must have guessed the challenge of the event by the name. The participants were required to make some extremely rib-tickling memes. The memes triggered some hearty laughter and chuckles and painted the aura with fine humour.

The last event was the Tombola event named ‘Physiobola.’ The event was filled with symbols and elements of physics and revealed some participants who were not only ace tombola players but also well acquainted with this particular field of science. The fest culminated with a ‘Vote of Thanks’ and was a huge success.
