BENGALURU : A BBMP lorry driver, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh, died on Tuesday after being brutally attacked by a mob following a road accident near Hegde Nagar in Thanisandra. The victim has been identified as Kondaiah (55).
The lorry had hit a two-wheeler, killing a 10-year-old boy and injuring his father. Enraged locals set the truck on fire and assaulted Kondaiah. He suffered severe head injuries which resulting in blood clotting in the brain. Despite treatment at a private hospital, Kondaiah succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
The police have arrested four suspects involved in the attack and registered a murder case after Kondaiah’s death. Authorities are now trying to identify others involved in the attack.
According to DCP-Northeast Sajeet, the attack on the driver was a result of the locals’ anger over the accident that claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy. “The police are working to track down any remaining individuals involved in the incident and four people have been arrested so far. A case already been registered against one of the accused in bike theft at the Yelahanka police station. We are making every effort to track down others involved in the incident”.
