On mother’s wish, Prabhudeva gets dilapidated temple renovated in Nanjangud village

MYSURU: Actor, director and choreographer Prabhudeva has donated Rs 25 lakh for the renovation of a Chola era temple at Kembalu village in Nanjangud taluk. His mother is a native of Doora village close by.

Prabhudeva’s mother Mahadevamma had bought a piece of land in Kembalu village adjacent to the dilapidated temple of Lord Male Mahadeshwara and daily pujas and other rituals were still continuing there.

As per his mother’s wish, Prabhudeva got the temple renovated at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. He, along with his second wife Himani Prabhudeva, participated in various rituals including kalasha puja, homa, Navagraha puja over the last two days. The family also arranged food for the villagers.

“When I had come for puja at the temple, I had seen a snake right next to me. Then itself, I decided that the temple should be renovated. In 1986, the walls of the temple were rebuilt and now my son has fulfulled my dream of renovating the temple and I am very happy. It is Prabhudeva’s child’s birthday today and they participated in the puja. I do Saraswati puja every day and I plan to build a temple for the goddess. I will not comment on how much money was spent on the renovation, but some more work remains”, Mahadevamma said.

Prabhudeva’s younger brother Nagendra Prasad said, “We used to play games like marbles, tops during our younger days in Doora village. I loved riding on the bullock carts. Being a star is not a big issue. Nothing is permanent. It feels nice to mingle with the villagers and participate in the ceremonies”.
