Pacer Tymal Mills in England’s preliminary squad
Left-arm Pacer Tymal Mills has been selected in England’s preliminary squad.
Tymal Mills has made it into England's preliminary squad for the T20 World Cup in the UAE, announced on Thursday. He started playing cricket at the age of 14. He suffered from a congenital back condition in 2015, which turned his career around. He had to tailor his training carefully, but he didn't give up. In 2016, Tymal Mills made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka at the Ageas Bowl.
Mills has returned to international cricket after playing his fourth T20I against India in Bengaluru in 2017. Ben Stokes was not available because he had taken a break from cricket to protect his mental health after breaking his finger in April. England coach Chris Silverwood, in a release issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), said, “Mills has all the capability to win at this point and the way he has spearheaded Sussex and Southern Brave’s attacks have shown that he can also relish the pressure of a big stage, and I can’t wait to watch him play." In addition, Silverwood said he would check Stokes' availability for the T20 tournament in the UAE and Oman next month. Stokes cannot be included unless an injury arises. David Willey is another left-arm fast bowler selected for the tournament.
