PM Modi Writes an Emotional Message for Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan Thanks in Response

Ram Vilas Paswan was a Dalit leader of Bihar, a former Union Minister of the NDA and chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned a letter for former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. This message came at a time when Chirag Paswan was involved in an internal feud with his uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, for claiming the legacy of the party founder, Vilas Paswan.

PM Modi said, "Ram Vilas Paswan was a great leader of the nation and Bihar's pride. He always raised a strong voice for justice." Youth who want to serve the nation through politics can learn a lot from Paswan's life. Despite reaching the top of politics, he was always connected with the workers and believed in communication and cordiality, and that was the reason he maintained good relations with all the leaders in politics.

Apart from politics, he always kept a ubiquitous smile on his face. "He was the man of the masses," Modi wrote in his note.

The PM penned: "He will always have his place in the history of independent India. Whenever he met me, he always talked about his experience for the welfare of deprived sections. Paswan tried to give a positive direction to the responsibilities he took as a Union Minister of Railways, Telecom, Chemicals, Fertilizers and other departments. In his six years as a Union Minister of the NDA, he took many effective steps in the field of consumers' rights and public distribution.

After receiving a message from PM Modi on Twitter, Chirag Paswan shared the letter on the social microblogging site and thanked the PM for his affection towards the work of Paswan.

Chirag Paswan wrote, "Sir, you have honoured the work done by him for social welfare by putting the summary of his life in your own words."

Chirag Paswan is organising an event in memory of Vilas Paswan. He invited top national leaders, including PM Modi, the Home Minister, and Congress Minister Sonia Gandhi. Among other invitees, Paswan invited political foes Pashupati Kumar Paras and CM Nitish Kumar to the event. Last year, Chirag Paswan was involved in a bitter fight with CM Nitish Kumar and openly criticised him for the Covid-19 situation.

On Saturday evening, former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha Member Sushil Kumar demanded that a statue of Ram Vilas be erected in Bihar to honour his enormous contribution.
