No second chance in ‘New BJP’: The typical case of Vijay Rupani
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) kept Vijay Rupani away from Gujarat.
After resigning from the position of the chief minister, Vijay Rupani is still interested in working in the organization but there are fewer hances for it and also it is noticed that he was kept far away from state politics. When Anandiben Patel was replaced by Vijay Rupani, at that time she was also interested in working with the organization but she had not given any chance. His actions were not sufficient or good enough and his response to the Covid-19 pandemic cost him his position as Gujarat holds a special space as both Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are from Gujarat.
Vijay Rupani is the first Chief Minister of Gujarat who is from the Jain community which is a minority community. He had rivals in the party; also Patel camp in the party was not happy or comfortable with him. In 2016, when he replaced Anandiben Patel, he was not the one who lead the opponent, Nitin Patel (Deputy Minister) was. But Amit Shah always had its back for Vijay Rupani.
His electoral performance was also one of the factors that worked against him. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to touch the three-figure mark in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly under Vijay Rupani. Also, the BJP did not want to take any risks in the 2022 election.
This is something that is not new. Apart from Gujarat, other states which include Assam, Uttrakhand, and Karnataka chief ministers had also been replaced. This is the new trend that the BJP is following nowadays. Also, the BJP replaced Vijay Rupani with Bhupendra Pate
