A degree holder from IIT- Bombay tops Civil Services Exam

The Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2020 result was announced on Friday in which Shubham Kumar, a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay came out to be the topper of the Civil Services Exam 2020. He had Anthropology as his optional subject noted by the UPSC press release. On the other hand, Jagrati Awasthi, who had Sociology as her optional subject attained the second rank in the Civil Services Exam 2020. Ms. Awasthi is from Bhopal. Also, she quits her job for her preparation for the exam said by her brother.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) directed the annual exam every year for selection to civil services including IAS and IPS. Also, it is observed that out of the 761 candidates 216 or 28.3% are women, 545 are men, and 25 persons with benchmark disabilities. It is noticed that out of the 761 prosperous candidates, 263 candidates belonged to the general category, 86 to the EWS, 229 to the OBC, 122 to the SC, and 61 to the ST. In 2019 the same in the middle of the top 25 rank-holders 12 are women. 

Ria Dabi is also among the prosperous women candidates. She is a sister of Tina Dabi (the topper of the Civil Services Exam 2015). Also, the percentage of women who appeared for the exam is improving over the last three years. It is noticed that in Prelims over 4.82 candidates appeared for the exam on October 4, 2020, out of which 10,564 had qualified for the mains held in January.
