Mamata Banerjee seeks answers on the PM care fund
Mamata Banerjee asked the central government about the money collected in PM cares fund
The Chief Minister of Bengal, Mamta Banerjee, questioned the central government about the audit of the PM Cares fund, which the central government claimed was a non-government fund. "The Chief Minister's Relief Fund is regularly audited. The PM CARES FUND was formed for Covid 19, but yesterday they (Centre) told the court that it was not a government fund. Government employees have donated money there, funds through CSR have been donated there, lakhs of crores of rupees have been donated, so where is that money?" She asked.
The Centre, on being questioned by the Delhi High Court, informed the Delhi High Court that the PM Cares fund is not a government fund, a donation to the administration, or a part of the Consolidated Fund of India, so no third party, irrespective of the constitution of RTI, is eligible to question about it.
Mamta raised a valid point by stating that when the PM CARES FUND bears our national emblem and it was collected by the people and for the people, why does the central government insist that it is not a government fund? This left everyone confused.
An affidavit was filed by an undersecretary at the Prime Minister’s office. He asked to trust the funds with transparency and their funds were audited by the auditor-a CA drawn from the panel prepared by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
