India suspended multiple Pakistani embassies' official Twitter accounts for allegedly disseminating false information related to India's national security on Monday. Twitter in India has blocked the official accounts of the Pakistani embassy at the United Nations (UN), Turkey, Iran, and Egypt.

Under the ban also came the account of Pakistan’s national public broadcaster, Radio Pakistan. Now, when someone tries to access these accounts, an error message occurs that reads, "Account has been withheld in India in response to a court demand."

“Deeply concerning that #India has blocked the flow of information to Indian Twitter by withholding access to the following official accounts,” the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign affairs was quoted by Geo News, in a tweet. The tweet also included the list of banned Twitter accounts. According to Geo News, the Twitter accounts of journalists, Murtaza Ali Shah and CJ Werleman, in accordance with the Information Technology Act of 2000 of India.

This comes amid the Indian government’s crackdown on sixteen YouTube channels, among which, six were Pakistan-based channels. The channels were blocked on grounds of disruption of public order, communal peace in the nation, national security, and international relations of India.

It was claimed that a coordinated effort to spread false information about India on a variety of topics, including the Indian Army and India's foreign relations, in light of the situation in Ukraine, was discovered on these YouTube channels.

Now, the micro-blogging platform has come under increased pressure from the BJP-led administration in New Delhi, which claims that these accounts are propagating "fake news" with the intention of upsetting communal peace.
