RAMANAGARA: Two priests of a temple at Koothagondanahalli in Kanakapura taluk suffered injuries while they were attempting to walk over burning coal as part of a ritual on Tuesday evening. Both have been admitted to the government hospital in Kanakapura.
A ritual of walking over burning coal was organised at the Bananta Maramma temple in Koothagondanahalli on Tuesday. The chief priest Shivanna first walked over the coals, but lost his balance and fell. He was rescued by the villagers.
Following this, another priest, Ramaswamy, attempted to walk over the coals, but he too fell and was pulled out by the devotees. Finally, the ritual was completed by another individual. Both the priests are recuperating in hospital.
