The IPL in May 2021 was suspended by the BCCI till further notice because of a COVID 19 spread across the players. Later, the BCCI announced that the remaining 31 IPL matches would be completed in September or October.
Now the second phase of the IPL has started on September 19 in the UAE. However, there is some bad and disappointing news for cricket fans this time. Before the start of the IPL 2021 second phase, English players like Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, and Chris Woakes decided to withdraw themselves from the IPL second phase for personal reasons and bio-bubble frustration.
Now Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, has also decided to leave the IPL due to bio-bubble fatigue. He won’t be playing for the Punjab Kings for the remaining matches of the IPL. After his final decision to step out, it might be true that we would not witness Chris Gayle in the Indian Premier League again.
Chris Gayle decided to withdraw from the remaining part of IPL 2021 due to bio-bubble fatigue. His official decision came on September 30. According to the sources, apart from bubble fatigue, he needed to give himself a break before the T20 World Cup campaign for the West Indies. The universe boss was looking to mentally refresh himself before the big tournament coming up next month.
Chris Gayle was seen only in two out of PBKS’s three matches in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. And in those 2 matches, he managed to score just 1 and 14 runs. It is also assumed that Gayle was not happy with Punjab King’s management after they did not include him in the playing 11 on his 42nd birthday last month. In IPL 2021, Chris Gayle managed to score just 193 runs in 10 matches at an average of 20 overs.
