Telegram Ban: Telegram gets banned in Brazil After Company Missed Emails Related to Ban
Telegram Ban: According to the statement of the CEO and founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, the company missed the emails sent by the Brazilian supreme court.
The popular messaging app Telegram is banned in Brazil for facilitating misinformation. According to the statement of the CEO and founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, the company missed the emails sent by the Brazilian supreme court. The mistake occurred because the company was checking the wrong email address. As a result, they missed the highlights underlined by the Brazilian Supreme Court.
Durov added that Telegram had a problem with emails. Company requested the Supreme Court to send future takedown “to a dedicated email address.” However, the court denied their request and said kept using the old general-purpose email address. Now, the Telegram app is getting banned in the South American Nation.
“We measured with an earlier court decision in late February and replied with a suggestion to send future takedown requests to a dedicated email address. But our response has been lost because the Court considered the old general-purpose email address in further attempts to reach us. As a result, we have missed its decision in early March that contained a follow-up takedown request. Luckily, we have now found and processed it, delivering another report to the Court today,” the company’s CEO said.
Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging app that was launched for iOS on 14 August 2013 and Android in October 2013. It was developed by Pavel Durov and currently has more than 70 million users across the world.
