Delhi Capitals chase down a target of 196 against Punjab Kings with 10 balls to spare
Delhi Capitals win by 6 wickets against Punjab Kings in Mumbai
Delhi Capitals(DC) beat Punjab Kings(PBKS) by 6 wickets at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, in a high scoring contest. Shikhar Dhawan led from the front with his 49 balls 92 runs, and DC was in a commanding position even after his dismissal.
PBKS lost a crucial toss and were forced to bat on a pitch where three out of four matches have been won by the team batting chasing. The PBKS openers started handsomely, with both the batters scoring a half-century. The big hitter Chris Gayle could not score big, but the uncapped batsmen Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan helped the team put a big score in front of the strong DC squad. DC bowlers had a tough night with 4 out of 6 bowlers going for over 10 runs in an over.
Prithvi Shaw gave an excellent start to DC with his intense 32 off 17 balls in the second innings. Still, he got deceived by a slower ball bowled by Arshdeep Singh when he was trying to for another big shot. Shaw's wicket did not break Dhawan's concentration, who kept playing the calculated big shots and smartly controlled the required run rate. He was dismissed by Richardson on 92 when he attempted to play an unorthodox shot. Marcus Stoinis, who had a poor outing last time he played, looked solid tonight and made sure to win the match for his team. PBKS bowling department looked sluggish tonight. Apart from Arshdeep, none of the bowlers bowled as per their expectation which ultimately cost them the match with 10 balls remaining. DC now stands second on the points table with 4 points.
