Eknath Shinde Takes Oath As Chief Minister of Maharashtra
With the oath Shinde assured the people of Maharashtra for a speedy development in the state. He also acclaimed that he won't repeat the actions meted by the previous leaders and would provide best treatment to all the MLAs who had been on his side.
Eknath Shinde, the Shiv Sena Leader took oath as the New Chief Minister of Maharashtra on June 30. The ceremony took place at Rajya Sabha in Mumbai in the presence of the Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Devendra Fadnavis also took oath as Deputy Chief Minister for the government as per the decision from the central leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The decision came out after Uddhav Thackeray's resignation from the post of CM on the evening of June 29. While resigning from the post he stated in his speech that " I have no regrets about leaving the CM's chair. Whatever I did, I did for the Marathi people and Hindutva. Today, in front of everyone, I am announcing my resignation as the CM of the state."
Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP tweeted a sketch after the resignation that indicated Thackeray with stab wounds on his back. He also stated " This is exactly what happened" beneath the illustration on the tweet. He was referring to the rebellion set against him by his own party MLA's with Eknath Shinde.

With the backing of Shinde, the saffron party aspires to return to power. PM Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah congratulated Shinde and Fadnavis on their new roles. " He is an inspiration for every BJP karyakarta. His experience and expertise will be an asset for the Government. I am certain he will further strengthen BJP'S growth trajectory" tweeted Modi congratulating Fadnavis.
