Jaipur, 15 January 2026। Vedanta presents Jaipur Literature Festival 2026 began on a high musical note as the First India News Jaipur Music Stage (JMS) opened at Hotel Clarks Amer, Jaipur, on Thursday evening.

Curated as the festival’s dedicated music wing, the Stage will feature three days of live performances celebrating the range and energy of India’s contemporary music scene and global collaborations. The evening opened with Soumik Datta | Travellers – an immersive, atmospheric production led by internationally acclaimed sarod virtuoso Soumik Datta, recipient of the 2025 Eastern Eye ACTA Award for Music.

Fusing the emotive sound of the sarod with ambient textures, field recordings, spoken word elements and rich sound design, the project formed part of Datta’s seven‑month ‘Melodies in Slow Motion’ tour across India, drawing the audience into a deeply reflective sonic journey.

Day One also featured a high‑octane set by the Vasu Dixit Collective, renowned for its electronic‑folk sound rooted in Kannada and Hindi musical traditions. Fronted by singer‑composer and filmmaker Vasu Dixit, the ensemble brought to life powerful contemporary interpretations of saint‑poets such as Basavanna and Kabir, blending folk, rock and electronic layers in arrangements that struck a strong chord with festival‑goers.

According to the organisers, Jaipur Music Stage 2026 will continue to present collaborations that embody the essential spirit of music – the freedom to create across genres and geographies. Running alongside the daytime sessions of the Jaipur Literature Festival, JMS is designed as both a retreat for literature lovers and a standalone music festival, with programming that spans world music, ghazals, jazz, rock and blues.Produced by Teamwork Arts, the three‑day Stage promises “breathtaking evenings of show‑stopping performances” featuring artistes from India and around the world, reinforcing Jaipur’s position as a global hub for literature and the arts.
