Royal Challengers Bangalore thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders by 38 runs
AB de Villiers brilliance helped RCB beat KKR by 38 runs
Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Royal Challenger Bangalore by 38 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
RCB elects to bat on a surface that seemed like a good to bat on. And it was pretty evident when RCB's batsmen Maxwell and De Villiers smashed the KKR bowlers after losing their captain Kohli early in the match. Maxwell scored 78 off 49, and De Villiers scored a quickfire 76 with the strike rate of 223 that helped RCB put on a massive total of 204 on the board(Chennai's average score is 150-160). KKR bowling unit started well by dismissing Kohli and Patidar early, but they could not stop the run flow when Maxwell got set.
When KKR came on to bat in the second innings, they got a good start by making 57 runs in the powerplay but kept losing wickets even when most of their batsmen got a start. KKR batters failed to convert their start into a big score and were unable to build a good partnership. Andre Russell was the top scorer in the KKR camp with a score of 31 off 20 deliveries.
RCB bowlers bowled well and kept the match in control. Harshal Patel, the purple cap holder, bowled beautifully and earned the best bowling figures of the game 2/17. Jamieson & Chahal took 3 and 2 wickets that assisted RCB in winning the match and reclaim their lead in the points tally.
