The restaurant named Aquila located in South Delhi had to shut down on being sent a legal notice after investigation and the restaurant’s license was also found expired.  The Civic Bodies first sent the notice and then an investigation was conducted according to the standard procedure.

The mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (ASDAMC) Mukesh Suryan confirmed the closure of the place saying that ‘the restaurant named Aquila had been running without a valid license, we issued a notice to shut it down, and now it is closed, this restaurant was running without the permission of Civic Bodies and there is a further plan to impose fine of the same under DAMC.

The owner was also accused to operate the restaurant on illegally acquired public land. The notice issued by ASDMC also mentioned that ‘the public health department for the second time surveyed the restaurant premises on 24th September and found that no improvement has been made in the condition of its functioning, so you are granted 48 hours to shut down the restaurant after the notice is delivered, if not done as said, legal action will be taken against it.
The restaurant first came into the limelight when a video of dispute (Click here for the video) was posted on social media and it went viral, in the video a girl was stopped by the restaurant staff.

According to the girl she was stopped for wearing a Sari, as the staff said that sari is an inappropriate outfit and does not match a smart dress code.
As soon as the video went viral on social media, people were filled with rage and started asking questions to the manager of the restaurant on various social media platforms, the anger could be seen valid as Sari is India’s traditional outfit draped in various styles all over the country.

To which the restaurant defended itself by tweeting that ‘this is all a misunderstanding and that the girl in a sari was not denied of entry but was rather asked to wait just because she had not pre-booked any table and till the time a table was arranged for her, she entered forcefully and even slapped the manager, to prove their point they even submitted CCTV footage to show it all and even claimed that many women regularly visit there in sari which proves that there is no policy as of to restrict ethnic wear in the restaurant, therefore it is a baseless accusation.
If we look at the situation, several questions arise that how could a restaurant of such a large scale run without a license and even if it was functional then why it had been left un-noticed by the authorities till it went viral due to any reason on social media secondly still there is no proper investigation done on who was wrong, the girl who slapped the manager or the hotel staff that restricted her entry.

Whatever the reason is, from this case we can assume that corruption has established deep roots in the system which will take time to leave, there are people who misuse the concept of feminism and in this situation, the person who has violated the laws stated in the very preamble of the constitution is still not charged.
