Railways on Friday clarified that the 2-level selection method for applicants for vacancies in Non-Technical popular categories (NTPC) is accompanied as a part of guidelines framed for tests carried out through it wherein the wide variety of candidates is in huge numbers. The rationalization comes after the recruitment method related to computer-based totally tests (CBT) for NTPC led to huge protest in diverse parts of the country with aspirants leveling allegations of irregularities within the conduct of the exam. They alleged that the method turned into non-obvious and riddled with troubles, which includes permitting people with higher qualifications to compete for jobs for much less certified applicants.

Frustration caused anger and escalated to violence, pushing the Railways to drop the NTPC and the level 1 tests and prompting the authorities to set up an excessive-power committee to deal with the problems raised using job candidates.

“In response to the concerns raised by candidates over the questions raised over the 2-stage Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted as part of recruitment process, Railways has clarified that in case the number of candidates who have applied against the notification are large in number and are more than one crore, then, it is advisable to conduct CBT in two stages with 1st Stage being used to screen the candidates for 2nd Stage and 2nd Stage CBT conducted with limited candidates so that extensive normalization is not involved and the final merit is more just and fair, “the railway ministry stated in a declaration. He also stated that “Shortlisting should be done for 7 lakh candidates not 7 lakh roll numbers “nowhere was it stated that 7 lakh distinct applicants gets shortlisted for 2nd stage CBT. due to the fact a 2nd stage includes CBT of 5 unique levels and a candidate may be shortlisted for a couple of level as consistent with eligibility, merit and choice, the lists of seven lakh roll numbers may have a few names appearing in more than one list, the railways stated.
