Amit Shah chairs meet on internal security in New Delhi
Home Minister, Amit Shah chaired a meeting on internal security in New Delhi on Monday at Intelligence Bureau headquarters.
Amit Shah, Union Home Minister chaired a meeting at Intelligence Bureau headquarters in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting was attended by the Directors General of Police of all states and the Directors General of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Internal security challenges and the ways to address or confront them is the main focus of the meeting and it is an annual affair held around June but was postponed due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the meeting, the recent incident in Jammu and Kashmir was also discussed in which there was an attack on minorities, death of two government teachers, one is Kashmiri Sikh and another is Kashmiri Pandit. Due to this a sense of concern was visible in Sheikhpora, a migrant colony of Pandits in Kashmir and many of them are leaving Kashmir. According to the sources, in the meeting, Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home, and Ajay Bhalla, Home Secretary were present. Nisith Pramanik and Ajay Kumar Mishra were invited but they did not attend the meeting. Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser is on leave and the two deputies of NSA’s- Rajinder Khanna and Pankaj Saran were also present.
The Home Ministry said in a tweet, “Deliberations were detailed and expansive, given the presence of all DGPs and DGs of all CPFs. Also, the Ministry added, “The Conference deliberated on various internal security challenges and discussed ways to tackle them firmly”. The recent incident in Jammu and Kashmir was discussed in detail in the conference at Intelligence Bureau headquarters including killings of civilians in Jammu and Kashmir and exit of migrant laborers. Also, the Home Minister last month met top officials from 10 states which include Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Kerala according to the sources.
