Protests against the new Agnipath scheme in which the centre had planned to deploy youths into the Indian Army, Navy and Air force for a tenure of four years had been stirring around the country. Agra-Delhi national highway in West UP was blocked by protestors leaving a number of transport and commuters stranded for hours. In the city of Agra, the protestors also pelted stones on buses and blocked MJ road for an hour.

The government in Haryana had suspended mobile internet and bulk SMS services for a day in Faridabad and Mahendragarh. The Bihar government had also taken similar action in 12 districts considering the ongoing violence in the state. Trains were set on fire by the protestors and reports also alleged that the BJP office was vandalized. The Deputy Chief Minister, Renu Devi residence was also attacked along with police . ADJ of Bihar had reported that 24 FIRs had been registered and 125 people had been arrested for inciting riots and creating violence.

Section 144 of CrPC had been imposed in Gurugram to avoid any mass gatherings. Various metro stations in Delhi including Jamia were closed. A total of 200 trains had been affected due to the ongoing protests, out of which 35 trains were cancelled around the nation.

There was also an incident in Secunderabad railway station of burning coaches where police fired in air and used water cannons to control the rampaging. One person died and around 15 were injured in the ongoing agitation. In the same thread, Priyanka Gandhi had also tweeted in Hindi asking the Modi government to put down the Agnipath policy. Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw had also appealed to the Indian youth to not indulge in protests and avoid damaging the property of railways.
